Questions people ask
- Do I need a will or a trust in Florida?
- That is a legal decision only you or a lawyer can make. In general, a will goes through probate, and a funded revocable trust can pass what is in it without probate. The Florida Bar has free pamphlets on both. Once you choose, I type the paperwork.
- How much does a will or trust cost here?
- Our flat fees: Essential Will Plan $695. Complete Trust, one person $995. Complete Trust, couple $1,495. Durable Power of Attorney alone $150. 50% deposit to start.
- Do I need a lawyer to make a will in Florida?
- Florida law does not require a lawyer, but a lawyer can give advice we cannot. We are not lawyers and cannot give legal advice. We type the documents you choose with the details you give us.
- Does a will need to be notarized in Florida?
- A Florida will must be signed in front of two witnesses. A notary is not required, but a self-proving affidavit signed before a notary helps the court accept the will later. We bring the notary, and witnesses if needed.
- How do I get power of attorney for a parent with dementia?
- The parent must still have the capacity to understand and sign. If they can, they sign a durable power of attorney with two witnesses and a notary. If they cannot, families usually need a lawyer about guardianship.
We are not lawyers and cannot give legal advice. Jonathan Rexford is a Florida notary public and nonlawyer document preparer.
